On 15th August, 2016 the children of Salt Lake Point School assembled in the school premises to celebrate the 70th year of the Independence Day. The school Secretary escorted by the senior & junior student representatives hoisted the National Flag with the proud command of 'Vande Mataram' from the school squad.

With the unfurled Tricolour flying high, the school marching squad saluted the motherland and the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. With the National Anthem the first half of the programme came to an end. The next part of the celebration, a cultural programme included patriotic songs and dance inspiring the young hearts watching the programme. A Hindi drama Bagha Jatin, based on the life & deeds of a Bengali revolutionary, staged by the students made a special mark.
